Transient Ethics

The Seven Principles

of Outdoors Ethics

  • 1. Plan Ahead and Prepare (it is best to plan at least a year when planning to have a vacation during peak seasons  such as holy week, panagbenga, christmas season)

  • 2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces (this really applies in the mountains - like not camping just beside a river, near a tree because it could catch a lightning and others - but somehow the principle applies when choosing for an accommodation while choosing)

  • 3. Dispose of Waste Properly (Please clean as you go, if there are no garbage bins along the way, pocket it and throw when you find one - better yet, bring your trash where you came from)

  • 4. Leave What You Find (please do not pick flowers and plants or even stones for souvenirs, you may just take photos and memories of the moments)

  • 5. Minimize Campfire Impacts (or your impact in the place where you visit such as loud noises, garbage, smoking in public places and the likes. By the way --- smoking in public places in Baguio is penalized with P3,000 when caught and any citizen can and may bring the offender to the police - should you want to smoke - there are some designated smoking areas in Baguio).

  • 6. Respect Wildlife (perhaps we can say --- respect the locals --- by avoiding too much loud noises, sarcastic comments while in the area, and please avoid brutal treatments of your own yaya and katulongs while in the area or else you might invite a fight from viewers and be told to go back where you came from and do your abuses elsewhere otherwise you will be brought to the police).

  • 7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors ---the same as respecting wildlife...
